From 9.30, meet at Myall Creek Hall, mid-way between Bingara and Delungra.

 

10.00 welcome and song and introductions, then walk (if necessary drive) across Myall Creek bridge up to the beginning of the MemorialWalk.

 

Waiting for everyone to arrive, there is a smoking ceremony, then walk the walk, with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous students reading out the plaques which tell the story.

Professor Lisa Jackson Pulver AM*

 

After the ceremony, return to the hall for lunch. The Myall Creek CWA provide lunch paid for on the day.

 

 

* Professor Lisa Jackson Pulver AM

is a proud Aboriginal woman with connections to communities in South Western New South Wales, South Australia and beyond, the Deputy Vice Chancellor at the Univeristy of Sydney was most recently the Pro Vice-Chancellor Engagement and Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Leadership at Western Sydney University. Before then, Lisa played a key role in the development of a designated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit within the Faculty of Medicine at UNSW and held the Inaugural Chair of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Director of the Muru Marri Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Unit and Professor of Public Health UNSW.
She is a Group Captain in the RAAF Specialist Reserve and specialist advisor to the Chief of Air Force. Her Air Force service has included developing the Royal Australian Air Force Indigenous Youth Program (RAAFIYP). She is a member of the Department of Defence and Department of Veterans Affairs and Scientific Advisory Committee reviewing the Transition and Well-being Research Programme of works and recently worked with the Department of Defence and Department of Veterans Affairs as a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Jet Fuel Exposure Syndrome (JFES) Study.
Lisa, with Ilona Lee, co-founded the Shalom Gamarada Scholarship Program which has enabled over 60 students to receive a residential college scholarship for health related degrees at the University of New South Wales.
She is a member of a number of strategic groups, including the Australian Statistical Advisory Council, the South Australian Health Performance Council and the Australian Medical Council. Lisa is committed to a career that translates her work into research capacity building for health care workers and improved health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Reconciliation Trail

On the way to Myall Creek, or on the way home, consider doing a reconciliation trail between Moree and Bingara. The trail points out other massacre sites, with background and commentary.
